Mrs. Trish Elliott

I received my degree in Business Education from Evangel University in Springfield, Missouri, in 1983.  I have been teaching in Ohio for 24 years and have earned 42+ graduate hours since earning my degree.  I have taught a variety of business courses, accounting programs, cooperative business programs, and currently teach the Careers in the Teaching Profession Program.  I also teach Computer Applications classes.

The Careers in the Teaching Profession Program is designed to provide students with insight into the teaching profession and careers in the field of education. It allows students an opportunity for classroom internships with cooperating teachers. Student interns will have an opportunity to work closely with experienced teachers in completing real job assignments such as planning lessons, instructing students, and managing classroom behavior. Students will explore careers in education while gaining exposure to elementary, middle, secondary, and/or special education classes during the year.      

Benefits to Students:

• Gain experience in an actual work setting

• Examine career options in the teaching profession

• Earn  3 high school credits and possibly college credit through academic coursework

• Work with an adult mentor/professional

• Gain first-hand experience with materials and technology used by schools

• Develop the ability to work cooperatively with others

• Connect what they have learned in the program to how it is used in the classroom

• Develop a professional portfolio used in future teacher preparation activities
