MODULAR PROGRAMS

WEB DESIGN

Would you like to know how to create your company's web page? If yso, this class is for you. You will start with the basic Hypertext Markup language (HTML), the special language of the web. Then we will teach you how to organize and plan web content, develop color schemes, create graphic elements, work with frames, link documents, insert elements and other essential techniques. Software includes: Dreamweaver, Flash and Photoshop. Prerequisite: Basic Windows and ability to navigate the Internet.

DESKTOP PUBLISHING FOR THE NON-DESIGNER

Students will be introduced to the principles of good design, layout and color theory. They will learn how to apply typography and graphics for professional looking results, plus instructions on the proper preparation of files for commercial printers. This is not a computer software course, these skills can be applied to any DTP software you currently use. Students are encouraged to bring in their company's/organization's flyers, brochures and ads for review and redesign.

MEDICAL SECRETARY

This program will prepare you to become a valuable part of a health care team. Medical Secretary positions are found in hospitals, clinics and extended health care facilities. PHARMACY TECHNICIAN

Pharmacy Technician is one of the fastest-growing careers in the United States. This program prepares you to assist pharmacists in IV mixture and prescription preparation and procedures. Upon program completion, graduates will be eligible to take the National Certification exam. Student is responsible for the cost of the exam.

COSMETOLOGY MANAGER
Gain competency in the areas of salon management and ownership. Along with classes, practice and clinic work, various projects will be assigned. Field trips to salons and supply houses to learn about processes and procedures like setting up and supplying a salon. Staff evaluation and a passing grade of 82% are required to become a cosmetology manager. Prerequisite: Professional Cosmetology Technician.

MANICURIST/NAIL TECH
The manicuring course will give the student the knowledge to work in a licensed beauty or nail salon in the area of manicuring, hand and arm massage and artificial nails. The student will also have the knowledge in the area of salon management and ownership. Manicuring students are assigned to lecture and practice the first 4 to 7 weeks. The remaining class time you will learn: Sanitation & Bacteriology, anatomy & physiology, hand, arm & leg massage, manicuring procedures, artificial nails, specialized equipment, salon operation & communication, cosmetology laws & rules, public health safety and advanced techniques.

LASER SAFETY COMPLIANCE REVIEW

It is our goal to assess the facility's complete Laser Safety Program to ensure its compliance with the ANSI 136.3 (American National Standards Institute) recommendations or implement any corrective actions to bring the program into such compliance. Such assessment will focus on the Administrative, Procedural and Engineering controls of the laser safety program. We will address the medical laser patient safety issues in order to assist your facility in JCAHO Survey preparation. In addition to coursework at PLCC, this training can be customized for your organization.
