3. Better Vehicle Usage

Hybrid   NEXT :: BACK

Transportation is a modern marvel and has made life very convenient in recent times.  However, in our country vehicles are responsible for 20% of greenhouse gases.  It is absolutely ludicrous that a SUV with a fuel economy of 13 miles per gallon is the equivalent of leaving your refrigerator open for six years straight.  When purchasing a new vehicle, there are a few factors you should take into consideration.  You should look for a car with good gas mileage that produces fewer emissions.
            Hybrids are becoming more and more popular with a more environmentally conscious population.  This vehicle is a combination of a rechargeable energy storage system and a propulsion system.  Hybrids can keep the charge on their battery longer by using regenerative braking to capture kinetic energy.
            There are various other ways to green your car without necessarily buying a hybrid vehicle.  Just by making sure that your tires are inflated properly and rotating your tires a couple of times per year can help your fuel economy.  You should carpool when possible, and for shorter distances of travel you should opt to walk or perhaps even ride a bicycle.  It would make a difference if everyone were to get into the habit of responsible vehicle usage.
